Yes! Unfortunately, wood will swell if it’s soaked in water, and that can cause the finish to crack. I’m so sorry to hear about your pen—but I completely understand how things happen, especially when life throws a curveball like a little one with a bloody knee! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pen otherwise, and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review!

The pearly finish lived up to my expectations. An all around , wonderful pen. Then the pearl finish started to crack in long, vertical lines. I will assume all blame for the cracking and peeling as I presume I left it in the rinse jar for too long. Life. Just be careful you get the pen out of the water glass before dealing with a crying child with a bloody knee.

I am left handed and need a straight pen, do I was happy to find a pretty and affordable here on my favorite calligraphy bloggers supply shop. As a lefty, it’s now my go-to pen , especially as I am not a fan of pens with a thick grip. My only struggle with it is that if I don’t switch out my nib often, the tight grip which holds the nib securely also makes it difficult to get the nibs back out at times.
